The vineyard

A land of tradition

The vineyard has 66 hectares spread over 3 distinct terroirs in order to give finesse and precision to our wines. On our parcels of Saint-Cernin-de-Labarde, Conne-de-Labarde, Plaisance and the Issigeac plateau, emblematic grape varieties of the South-West are planted in red: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, as well as in white: Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle. Our wines are distinguished by the AOP Bergerac, AOP Côtes-de-Bergerac, and AOP Monbazillac.

A unique terroir

Thanks to an in-depth study of the soils carried out in 1998, the work is done in perfect harmony with the terroirs of the property. Meticulousness, attention and care are the key words at Vignoble des Verdots to produce wines in the respect of the customs and the soil. 

The commune of Conne-de-Labarde, where more than 70% of the estate is located, is characterized by a particular terroir: it reveals a mosaic of more or less deep clay-limestone soils, on the edge of the exceptional Issigeac limestone plateau, which allows the various grape varieties to flourish.

The reasoned fight

As of spring 2022, we have embarked on a policy of vitiforestry with the aim of restoring the terroir. We were selected by Agri Sud-Ouest Innovation to run this pilot project. Thousands of trees of 11 different species are being planted on the estate, and the rows of vines grassed over to regenerate the soil.

Our ambition also implies a harmonious viticulture, just like our work to obtain the High Environmental Value Certification (HVE3). A project on which the team has been mobilized for several years through a global approach of sustainable development and respect for the surrounding biodiversity.

Berry tasting

As the harvest approaches, the grapes are tasted by our cellar master, the estate manager and our team of oenologists. This technique allows us to harvest the grapes at their optimal maturity. The colors and aromas extracted will be true to the terroirs of the property and to the wines offered by Vignoble des Verdots.
